How it runs

Six teams, one sequence that holds.

  1. 01

Teams are formed at the door, six to eight people each, and all receive identical kit: that is what makes the final standing defensible.

  2. 02

The host never gives answers but sells hint cards against time. A stuck team is never stuck for more than ten minutes.

  3. 03

An adjudicator marks the answer grid during the last quarter of an hour, then posts it. You keep the files afterwards if you want them.

Venue requirements

What it takes to build.

  • Indoors: 1.6 m² per person, work tables and chairs included
  • Outdoors: sheltered start point, walkable trail, indoor fallback agreed in advance
  • One 15 A circuit for task lighting and the projector
  • A clear 3 m wall or an easel for the results board

The hours of each format are evening hours with guests in the room; build and strike are extra and appear in the package contents.

Questions

What people ask first.

What happens if it rains during Fjord Hunt?

The trail runs in the rain: the kits are waterproof and the checkpoints are sheltered. It is cancelled in a high-wind or freezing-rain warning, and we switch to Tide Files in your room, with no postponement charge.

Do all teams get the same puzzles?

Yes, the copies are identical and one adjudicator holds a single answer grid. That is what makes the standing arguable over coffee but not contestable.

Does it need a level of fitness?

Fjord Hunt means walking 3.5 km on a flat path with two short climbs. Tide Files and Lighthouse Code are played sitting down, indoors.
